Furnishing the Apartment

When I moved out from Mom's and got my first apartment, I didn't have much in the way of furniture and less in the way of money. After sitting around eating dinner on the floor for a couple of weeks, I decided that I had to come up with some furniture without spending any money. I got to thinking about different ways to get stuff for nothing, and I thought that the Goodwill, Salvation Army and places like that get stuff for nothing, why not try that avenue. Since I had an old van, I could use that to pick up the stuff, so what I did was run an advertisement in the paper along the lines of, 'Free pick-up of unwanted reusable furniture and other household items'. The ad started on Sunday, and I got a bunch of calls the same day. Before long, I had an assortment of stuff. I had an old painted blue record player, a sofa that was orange and a matching chair that was not. It was the strangest collection of furniture and things that you would ever would see in one place, but at that time it served the purpose.

Watch the Classifieds for Moving Sales

It's a fact of life that you can often times get great deals when people are under duress. If you look in the classifieds, you'll see ads for people holding a 'moving' sale. Quite often, you'll see something like 'everything must go'. These people are looking to move things fast, and although they're looking to make some money on the stuff, they're not going to want to have a garage or house full items to get rid of after the sale. You just need to let these people know that you'll take the items and worry off of their hands for FREE! Send them a business card with something like, 'Got stuff you need to get rid of in a hurry? We offer FREE pick up of unwanted reusable items'. Or you can call them a couple of days after the sale to see if they have things left that they need to dispose of.

Selling Your Merchandise on Craigslist

In the Internet age, you have so many more options to get rid of the stuff that you have. Of course, you can sell it on Ebay, but another great place to unload much of your merchandise is Craigslist. With this site, you don't pay any fees, and since your customers are local, you can sell a lot of stuff FAST. It's a simple process to post an ad on Craigslist. Just look for an appropriate section, and place your FREE ad. I have a friend who sells and buys most of his stuff through Craigslist. It's a great place to find some real bargains as well, so take some time and check it out.

Getting Free Things on the Internet

There are many companies that give away free things on the Internet. Things like computers, Ipods, Cell Phones, even cash. The way it works is that you sign up for an offer from one of the freebie sites, and you have to complete offers OR/AND refer people to the site. For instance, there is one site that is giving away a free IPod for 5 'greens'. To see how it works, check out the following site;
